Manage metadata

Metadata is important because it describes a resources's content, source, and purpose. It helps users understand the resources, assess its reliability, and use it correctly. Good metadata also makes a resource easier to find and share.

Open the Edit Menu

  • Select "Edit metadata"
This opens the Metadata Wizard for editing key resource details.

Edit Basic Metadata

In the Basic Metadata tab, you can update:
  • Title: the display name of the data
  • Description: a brief summary of what the data is about
  • Category: helps organize and filter data
  • Keywords: improves searchability
  • Related resources: link this data to other related resources

Edit Location and Licences

On the Location and licences metadata tab, you can update:
  • Attribution: who created or owns the data
  • Geographic Area: the region(s) covered byt the data
  • License: if the data has a known licence type

Save your changes

Click the Update button to apply your edits.
